About our friendship

 

 

 

 

 

It's been a while since we had summer vacation together to Mount Nebo State Park, I really want to write this special note about us.
Because there are a lot of sweet things that I'd like to put in my story, it makes me too excited and don't know what I should start.
This morning, rain is coming down really hard and it makes me feel I need to write this note......
So I just grab my stuff, drop kids at the bus stop and go to my favorite place to write.

Hm.... while enjoying my fav souffle and a cup of coffee, looking outside the window, the rain really touch my heart and words start running down.....

In the beginning we were just four couples that live in the same area in Minas Pekanbaru, Indonesia about 15 years ago. So because of that, we always met at some activities, like department gathering, birthday party, or we just visited each other on the weekend.
Fortunately, our kids are about same ages, off course not mine. Now, theirs are all teenagers and young adult, but I only have one teenager and two girls are still 10 and 8 years old. So, the kids enjoy being together too, and the teenagers always take care of their younger sisters.
We liked to have lunch after playing golf. Sometimes we had dinner together and stayed all night long talking about everything, especially sharing about parenting or work or just enjoyed being together, slept and wake up in the morning, had breakfast and continued discussing particular topics.

Because of the business, some of us had to move to Duri and Rumbai, which are about three hours drive. But all the joy of being together didn't stop. We visited each other, although it's rarely. Until one of us had to move to Jakarta, and continued with  two families had move to Houston.
The last sharing was in October 2011.
After almost three years, three of us are in Houston now, and we miss our time together, especially with our special friend in Rumbai.
So.....
It's a joy, when we heard our friend from Rumbai would visited us on summer. All of us were excited about the plan.
And here we were......
Spending two nights at Mount Nebo State Park Arkansas, barbequed and sang together on the last night, shared and discussed interesting topics, kids played together, canoeing..... it's just like calling back all the happiness being together.
Road trip for a week to Arkansas, Forth Worth, San Antonio, made a new adventure of our friendship, and it's memorable.

What I learn about this long journey of friendship is that we "don't sweat the small stuff " ( Richard Carlson ) http://www.slideshare.net/sahilwhiteday/dont-sweat-the-small-stuff-by-richard. We just respect each other as individual couples that have difference interest, thought, and we always give space when there is in need. We trust each other. We do what we can do without feeling you are better than others.

Hm.....
This is about a friendship....
that learn each other
that make us grow together.......
